Lyric Sheet: MEET ME IN THE LANE, c. 1870
“I’ll meet thee in the lane, When the clock strikes nine...”. c. 1870, San Francisco Lyric Sheet for “Meet me in the Lane”, by Charles Blampin, Published by Bell & Company, San Francisco, CA, Choice Very Fine.. The lyric sheet, 9” x 3.75”, is “Published and sold Wholesale and Retail by BELL & COMPANY, General Publishers of Songs and Ballads, Booksellers, Stationers and Periodical Agents, No. 639 Kearny Street, San Francisco.” The lyrics, “Cumposed [sic] by CHARLES BLAMPIN”, are printed in black down the center of the page with a decorative border surrounding. The chorus, though only printed once in its entirety, is repeated three times as follows: “I’ll meet thee in the lane, When the clock strikes nine, In ecstacy again, love, To call thee mine. My heart for thee is burning, My brain is almost whirling, Thro’ loving thee so madly, My sweet Mountain Rose.” Minor dampstaining, binding adhesive on the back shows through along the front top edge; otherwise a nice specimen--with charming, romantic lyrics!.
