$ 1,950.00

A Large Antique English Box-lock flint pistol by; R. COFFIN, of the French & Indian War - American Revolutionary War Period, circa. 1750. 5", .60 cal. round steel turn-off cannon barrel engraved # '1' on frame and barrel (made as a pair) unfortunately the mate is missing. (2) Private Proofs; a "CROWN" over "GP" (Gun Maker's Proof) and a "CROWN" over "V' (VIEWED) both within an oval and rather hard to make out. The pistol remains in original flintlock configuration; action could be adjusted to function better but works. The center flint hammer is the older form of a single 'swan-neck' and not double-throated. Steel box-lock frame with decorative engraving and maker marked on the right side 'R. COFFIN'. The trigger guard also acts as a safety when pushed forward. Original walnut flat slab-side stock with fine silver wire inlay; a stress crack located at the frame tang pin with a small amount of fill in the crack; a large round vacant silver escutcheon; scratches and dings from years of service. 12" overall length. In good mechanical working order.
