French Military Model 1777 Flintlock Pistol, (possible American template for the 1799 S. North), #340 Firearms
Fine French Military Model 1777 Flintlock Pistol, c.1777-1780. 7.5", .69 cal. (musket bore) round steel barrel. All French arsenal marks have been removed except the date stamp just forward of the cock; "F" over "80", (1780). It is my opinion that this pistol may have been a pattern templete example for North and Cheney to copy to produce the U.S. Model 1799 Martial pistol, (Could be a stretch but possible!) A very nice example. 13.75" overall length. In good working order.
