English William IV-Queen Victoria Period Personal Traveling Set, #1876 Militaria
An Antique English William IV-Queen Victoria Period Personal Traveling Set, circa. 19th. century. Wood box w/decorative exterior veneer, brass edging, and escutcheons. Measures; 12.25" X 9" X 6.5" and has (2) working keys. Lower drawer is silk lined and contains a pair of period eye glasses in original case. The upper interior is lined in crushed red velvet and thin morocco red leather. A document container is concealed with-in the underside of the lid w/documents. The contents with-in the box are as follows; (5) silver or silver plated glass containers, (4) hand blown ink bottles(corks missing), (1) period pair of eye glasses, (1) fine steel mesh coin purse, and a period ambro-type image depicting a woman and her son in the original leather covered case. The forward tray lifts out to reveal another storage compartment. A very interesting traveling set that a wealthy officer or person would have.
