English/German Small Treasure Box/Casket, #411 Treasure Artifacts
A Fine English/German Small Treasure Box/Casket, circa 1620. 6" high X 4.25" wide. Painted wrought iron box/casket w/ two separate hasps. The underside of the lid has a small interesting section of chain mail. When gold and silver coin was the principal means of payment for goods and trade, money boxes/caskets of this form were not only sensible but practical. The small period pad lock is missing the key. The box/casket is in good working order.
