Dated Pattern 1718 British Royal Navy Long Sea Service Flintlock Pistol w/Belt Hook, VERNON, 1761, #595 Firearms
A Rare Dated British Pattern 1718 Royal Navy Long Sea Service Flintlock Pistol w/ Belt Hook by; "VERNON" and dated; "1761" 11.75", .62 cal. round steel barrel w/unidentified barrel makers mark. Note: Proof marks removed from steel restoration. Lock marked; "VERNON", the date "1761", a "CROWN" over "GR" (King George III), a small "CROWN" over the "BROAD ARROW" (Government ownership). Heavy brass regulation furniture. Stock has the Stores Keeper mark; "ROYAL CYPHER" just above the rear of lock and has a faint inspector's mark; a small "CROWN" over "1" just above the right side of the trigger guard. The stock has had woodworm damage and was stabilized long ago at some point in it's life, otherwise solid w/normal age scratches and dings from years of service. 19" overall length. A very scarce and desirable Sea Service pistol in good working order.
Note: It is our opinion that this pistol had professional restoration long ago.
