Fantastic Cased Pair of English Flintlock Box-Lock Pistol by H. NOCK, LONDON
A Fantastic Antique Cased Pair of English Flintlock Box-Lock Pistol by NOCK, LONDON, circa. 1775-1785; may have been cased, circa. 1830's. 1.75", .46 cal. turn-off steel octagon barrels with fine engraved decoration at muzzles. Engraved top-mounted sliding safety's. Steel box-lock frames are marked with the later BIRMINGHAM PROOFS; decorative engraving depicting panoply of arms and maker's name 'H. NOCK' and 'LONDON'. Concealed 'drop-triggers'. The bag shaped wood stocks are solid with fine checkering and silver wrist escutcheon (vacant); each with light scratches and dings from years of handling. Both pistols are in their original flintlock configuration and are in good mechanical working order. Each pistol is 6.5" overall.
Note; These pistols are in excellent original condition with fire blue finish visible on the drop-triggers and frizzen springs.
Accessories include: high quality red leather covered 3-way powder flask, (2) bullet molds of different calibers w/lead balls for each, barrel wrench, and tow.
High Quality Period English box with top mounted inset lifting handle, measures; 12" wide X 7" deep X 3" high with correct English green baize lining. Key for front lock is missing.
