A Very Interesting Antique War of 1812 U.S. military contract model 1808 Flintlock musket made by "Joshua and Charles Barstow" of EXETER, NEW HAMPSHIRE”, circa. 1808-1812. 44.25", .69 caliber barrel. All steel furniture. The lock is maker marked vertically ar rear "J. & C. B." an "Eagle" just in front of the cock. The cock is stamped "*" over "3". The stock has a period restoration where a piece of wood has been inserted between the upper trigger guard and the lower barrel band (see photos), is solid with scratches, dings and staining from years of service and handling. In good mechanical working order.
NOTE; The musket may have been re-converted from percussion back to flintlock (if so, very well done and hard to notice).
The side plate has some very interesting marks: "IN ARMS WE TRUST", "E. BLOOD.", "* 1800*"
