An American Revolutionary War French Model 1763/73 Flintlock Musket. 43.5", .72 caliber smooth-bore barrel. All steel furniture. The lock has remnants of ST. ETIENNE and the arsenal marks above. All steel parts have a dark pleasing age rust patina. The stock is solid with scratches and dings from years of service. These muskets are becoming hard to find and this example is in good mechanical working order.
Note; It is our opinion the middle and upper barrel bands and the ram rod are period blacksmith made replacements.
The barrel has been reduced by about 1/2" during the period of use due to the metal becoming thin and sharp enough to cut the hand when reloading. This was a common practice.
