Antique Civil War Period Model 1860 Cavalry Sword, dated 1864. 34.75" single-edge blade marked on the ricasso "U.S." over "J.F." over "1864" and on the other side "Made by AMES Mfg. Co.". The brass guard is intact and has a dark yellow to olive color age patina with the pommel marked "C.E.W." and "J. F.". The twisted brass wire and leather covering the wood grip is intact with flaking. The blade has areas of rust age patina with the last 9" of blade with deep pitting.
