An Interesting English 2-Point Bicorn CHAPEAU BAS Cocked Hat
#118
An Interesting Antique English 2-point Bicorn CHAPEAU BAS cocked hat, circa. 19th - early 20th century made by "JAMES SMART / OUTFITTERS / 32 WALBROOK, LONDON / E.C.". Beaver pelt covered with decorative braided accents and periphery edging. The hat has some edge wear with some loses. The exterior exhibits (3) strands of silver metal wire arranged in a tubular fashion that encircles a British button. The same silver colored metal wire adorns the front and rear of the hat with interspaced feathers dyed black. The silk lined interior is intact with the sweat band. A great hat for display !
THE BUTTON - The Gilt Button is most likely that of the British Royal Household Livery.
NOTE - The hat is in good condition for the age and missing beaver fur on the edges with minor loses.
