A wonderful Civil War US Military Model 1842 Percussion musket dated 1848 made at the Springfield Arsenal. 42", .69 caliber smooth-bore barrel struck on the left side of breech with P and V as well as the date 1849 on the barrel tang. All steel furniture. The lock marked SPRINGFIELD, and dated 1848. The stock is solid with a small chip of wood missing from the upper right edge of the fore-end, light scratches and dings from years of service. In good mechanical working order.TTI-515519
