A Good European Riding Back Sword, circa. late 17th Century.  30.5" unmarked straight single-edge blade with three thin line fullers that terminate toward the end of the blade.  The iron symmetrical hilt is constructed of flattened rounded bars, comprising ring-guards each interrupted by a central molding and fitted with a sprung-in plate pierced with a series of holes enclosed within a strapwork panel.  A single quillon is attached to the knuckle bow formed en-suite and joined to the ring-guards.  Globular pommel.  The wood grip is intact with a later replacement wire wrap.  No scabbard present.  The overall length is 36.5"  A wonderful example !

 CONDITION:  Overall the sword is in good condition.  All iron surfaces exhibit salt & pepper surface rust pitting (some areas worse than others).

NOTE - The guard is a little loose and could be tightened if needed.
