A Massive and Fine Antique English Flintlock Long Fowler / Musket made by "SCUDAMORE", circa. 1820.  54”, .78 caliber octagon to round smooth-bore barrel with very fine engraved patent breech with (1) platinum and (2) gold bands and platinum touch-hole insert.  The flat beveled-edge lock plate has fine decorative engraving and is maker signed "SCUDAMORE".  The lock has a rain proof powder pan and high quality frizzen spring with roller.  The long gun is in its original Flintlock configuration.  All iron furniture includes engraved butt-plate, trigger guard, and patent breech.  The half-stock is solid with a minor sliver of wood missing from the upper edge of the left side of the for-end with light scratches and dings. The stock has fine wrist checkering with a vacant oval silver wrist escutcheon, (2) sets of barrel wedge escutcheons and for-end cap.  The long gun retains the original full length wood ram rod with iron tip and brass covered iron worm.  A great example of  in good mechanical working order.

MEASURES - 70" overall.
NOTE - All iron parts have salt & pepper rust pitting that has created a dark age patina over time with some areas mixed with visible original blue finish.  The cock has a replaced top-jaw and screw.  The inside of the lock is in new condition and the inside of the lock mortise is fantastic and a great study of a master gun maker's craft.
