A Fine British Military Model 1853 Enfield Percussion Rifle with Snyder Breech-loading Conversion with Original Bayonet and Scabbard, lock dated "1864". 39", .577 caliber rifled barrel stuck with many PROOF and Inspectors marks at and around the breech (see photos). Standard pattern furniture includes brass butt plate, trigger guard and nose cap, steel barrel bands. The lock is marked with a large "CROWN" over "VR" (Queen Victoria Regina), a small "CROWN" over the "BROAD ARROW" (Government ownership mark), the date "1864" over "ENFIELD". The stock is stamped on the right side of the butt with the circular Enfield mark over "1", has (2) illegible marks just below the end of the trigger guard, is solid with scratches and dings from years of service and handling. Original steel ram rod. Original bayonet stamped with many inspector marks and retains the original leather scabbard. A very nice example in good mechanical working order.
