A Very Interesting Large Antique late 16th - 17th Century European Fighting Dagger. 14.25" single-edge blade with 4" back-edge from tip and marked on both sides of the ricasso with (2) unidentified armorers stamps (see photos). The blade exhibits areas of deterioration and erosion (some areas worse than others. Iron hilt, including a pair of strait quillons with flared and flattened ends, outer projecting ring-guard with decorative open worked round flat iron plate insert, formed in suite that merges with (2) branches into the knuckle guard which does not attach to the pommel. Plain ovoid iron pommel. Later heavy brass wire bound grip-wrap. No Scabbard. 19.25" overall length. A fantastic dagger ready to display !
NOTE - The guard is a little loose and could be tightened if needed.
