A Good European Battle Morning Star Mace of Medieval form
A Good Antique European Battle 'Morning Star' Mace, circa.16th-17th century and of Medieval form. A very impressive example of a very scarce weapon (very few have survived). The 'star' is composed of hand forged iron spikes with a core of iron and large central top spike. Iron is pitted from years of exposure. Dark age rust patina.
Measures- Handle and haft length is 18.5", overall length is 25"
Note; it is our opinion that the handle is a later 19th century replacement but is well done.
