$ 3,950.00

A Good Irish Flintlock Dueling Pistol by McDermott, Dublin, circa. Early 19th century.    10.5", .64 caliber octagon iron smooth-bore, wedge-fastened, barrel with vacant oval inlay of gold on the top flat of the breech.  The barrel has a platinum touch-hole insert and has (2) oval proofs struck on the underside of the breech of a small "CROWN" over "P".  The flat lock has a water-proof pan, roller frizzen spring, has decorative engraving, and is signed by the maker "McDERMOTT".  The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration with no replacement parts or restoration.  The pistol was built with a "set trigger" system.  All iron furniture includes an engraved trigger guard with lower finger spur and butt-cap.  The stock has an oval silver wrist escutcheon engraved with the owner's initials "J H L" under a Lion atop a castle rampart".  The half-stock has a silver fore-end cap, oval silver barrel wedge escutcheons, fine checkering around the grip, and overall is solid with very light scratches and dings from years of handling.  Original horn tipped wood ram rod with metal worm (broken off).  In good mechanical working order.  16" overall length.  A nice untouched example...

NOTE:  All iron surfaces exhibit areas of staining, and light salt & pepper rust pitting.
