A Fine Cased (PAIR) of antique English/American (Secondary Martial) Import Brass Barrel Flintlock Pistols by, 'W ALLPORT', circa. early 19th century. 8.7/8" .52 cal. round brass smooth-bore barrels both marked on each side flat w/Birmingham Proof Marks and 'WA' (William Allport) and "LONDON" on the top flat. Locks marked; "W ALLPORT". Brass furniture. Both stocks are stamped twice on the left side at the rear of side plate w/a small 'CROWN' over 'WA' (William Allport) solid w/minor light scratches and dings from years of handling. These pistols are in exceptional original untouched condition and have had very little use. It would be very hard to improve upon a pair like these. 15" overall length. In good working order.
Note; 19" X 9.75" Period Dove Tail Pistol Box restored w/correct green baize. One pistol has a period repair at the wrist where a furniture screw was added to strengthen a stress crack.
UNDER RESEARCH: Ketland and Allport are known to work out of LONDON, BIRMINGHAM and had offices in the Colonies; Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York and Boston. Supplying both sides of the conflicts ! Both of these makers even worked together at one point.
