British/American Royal Navy Flintlock Long Sea Service Pistol w/belt hook, c.1770's. 12", .577 cal. round steel barrel w/Tower proofs. Brass regulation furniture. Our opinion is; this pistol was captured by U.S. forces during the Revolutionary War or for the War of 1812 and the British marks striped. No marks were left behind on the lock plate and it was also customized. A brass band was added to the muzzle for strength Belt hook is stamped; "N Y S", (New York Shipyard?). Stock is solid. 19.5" overall length. A very interesting pistol. In good working order.
