An Antique English Double Barrel Percussion Coach Shot Gun by MORTIMER of the Civil War - Wild West Period, circa. 1850-1860's. 18.5", 8 bore (.835 cal.) smooth-bore side by side barrels marked on the top rib "London Fine Twist" with (2) Platinum Bands and Plugs at the breech, long engraved tang. Engraved steel furniture. The percussion locks are engraved and maker marked "MORTIMER". German silver barrel wedge escutcheons and cap compartment on the underside of the butt stock. The stock is solid with light scratches and dings from years of handling. The barrels are held to the stock with (2) barrel wedges. The brass top wood ram rod is a replacement. Both locks are in good mechanical working order. 35.5" overall length. All steel surfaces have a dark age patina. The ultimate Wild West street sweeper !
