A Good Small English Bronze Signal Cannon
A Good Antique English Bronze Signal Cannon, circa. 18th century. 9 1/8", overall length tube including the cascabel; approx. .46 cal. 3" from trunnion tips. The top of breech is stamped "ROYAL PATENT" with (2) 'CROWN' proof stamps, (this could be a firing pattern model). The cannon rests on an all brass stand and is perfectly balanced. A great little cannon and perfect for display.
Note; The cannon was still loaded when we obtained it. It had a powder charge; a small lead ball, and late 18th century news paper as a wad ! (It has now been cleared).
