(PAIR) of RUSSIAN, TULA, All Brass Double Barrel Side-By-Side Box-Lock Flint Pistols, #2127 Firearms

$ 7,500.00

A Very Rare (PAIR) of RUSSIAN Brass Box-Lock Double Barrel Side-by-Side Flintlock Pistols, circa. 1790-1800. 3.75" .45 cal. side-by-side smoothbore barrels. The Russian pistols of the early 19th Century closely emulated more Continental European form, however, there are subtle nuances and differences which lead several colleagues and prominent collectors to believe the pair are of Russian origin attributed to TULA. Hammers are engraved w/serpents in a style that is more Russian than Continental, and also engraving on the frame and general construction is more Eastern in styling; pistols are completely unproofed and remain in original very good condition with minor marks and scratches on the brass, but generally very good overall, with crisp engraving; micro checkered wood stocks are good to very good with a couple of small losses around the pin holes and, a repaired chip on (1 pistol) the left side, but generally very good overall; small parts and screws are completely original, and both pistols retain a steel ramrod of the period. A wonderful (Pair) of flintlock pistols in good working order that should be further researched...

Note; the buyer of this pair of pistols will receive a copy of the catalogue page from the auction where they were purchased. Est. $12,500 - $25,000

Note; The pistols are contained in a proper period box but (not original), interior rebuilt/restored in correct green baize, w/period accessories.
