Fantastic American Kentucky Flintlock Pistol w/Engraved Silver Inlays, #1967 Firearms
A Massive Fantastic Antique American Kentucky Flintlock Pistol, circa. 1740/1815. 10. 1/8" round iron barrel w/(2) Birmingham PROOFS, smooth bore, and original plumb brown finish. Lock is from a very early British Royal Navy Sea Service Pistol (c.1740) w/all of the external marks intentionally removed during the period upon construction however, the original arsenal inspector's marks on the interior remain, cock is from a British Military New Land Pattern Light Dragoon Pistol. English style brass furniture w/trigger-guard, side plate, wrist escutcheon, and American nose cap engraved by maker. Engraved Silver butt cap matches (11) other Silver inlays set in the stock. The stock is solid w/the exception of an old stress crack just under the rear of the lock plate, and a period spliced section of wood at the muzzle, (Note; it is our opinion that this was done by the American maker during the period this pistol was being made/assembled, c.1815 because all the work matches the balance of the gun.) Otherwise, the stock is exceptional w/minor scratches and dings from years of handling. 17" overall length. An absolutely stunning American Kentucky flintlock pistol in remarkable condition and good working order. One of the best we have seen...
