A PAIR of Very Ornate European Brass Horse Saddle Stirrups In The Style of the 17th - 18th Century

$ 375.00

#102

A PAIR of Very Ornate European Brass Horse Saddle Stirrups made in the style of the 17th - early 18th century.  It is my opinion that these stirrups may be older reproductions or simply never used (which seems highly unlikely).  Type used throughout Europe and the early Americas.  A great looking pair of stirrups ready for display.

CONDITION - The overall condition of both are very good to excellent and have been polished over the years.  As mentioned, it is my opinion that these stirrups may be older reproductions or simply never used (which seems highly unlikely).  There is no wear at the top of the stirrups where the leather strap would rub against the brass.  There is no wear on the inner flat surface where the boot of shoe would be in contact with the surface of the brass.

The stirrups measure: 4.5" wide x 5.75" high x 6" in length.

NOTE - These stirrups are on consignment and the consignor's father purchased them from a reputable Dealer in New England over 30 years ago who claimed they were authentic to the 17th-18th century.  There has been a tremendous amount of brass items reproduced in counties like India and with cleaver artificial aging and with additional natural time, the older reproductions can fool most !

It is my opinion that these stirrups are older reproductions and they are priced accordingly.
