$ 4,250.00

A Rare Untouched Antique US military Variant model 1816 SPRINGFIELD Flintlock musket, dated 1828.  The musket is all original and in its original flintlock configuration.  39.5", .69 caliber barrel struck with US Proof marks on the upper breech an oval with "P" (PROOF), an "EAGLE HEAD" and a "V" and the date "1828" on the tang.  All steel furniture includes a butt plate with "42" punch dot marked on the tang.  The musket was made as "National Armory Bright" and has untouched and uncleaned surfaces.  The lock is marked an "EAGLE HEAD" over "SPRINGFIELD".  The stock has some unidentified markings located at the tail of the trigger guard (see photos).  The stock is missing a sliver above the rear of the lock plate otherwise is solid with scratches, dings from service and handling.  55" overall length.  Original full length button head iron ram rod.  A great example in good mechanical working order.

NOTE; Almost all of the Model 1816 flintlock muskets produced were converted to percussion for the Civil War.  This is a rare survivor in very good condition.  We have never encountered an example marked this way.  This is the first we have encountered and shocking that it is in its original flintlock configuration.
