A Wonderful American Revolutionary War Period English Flintlock Pistol by THOMAS, LONDON

A Wonderful American Revolutionary War Period English Flintlock Pistol by THOMAS, LONDON, circa. 1770's.  9.5", .65 caliber iron smooth-bore, pin-fastened, flared barrel struck with "PRO"/"VED" proof marks on the left side of the breech with remnants of engraving under a thick dark brown age patina.  The convex lock is signed by the maker THOMAS with decorative engraving.  The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration with no replacement parts or restoration.  All brass Georgian furniture with decorative engraving includes a grotesque-mask butt-cap, a martial theme embossed side plate with Stand of Arms motif and a helmeted shield wrist escutcheon with a "Prince of Whales" Coat of Arms (should be researched!).  The stock has fine silver wire inlay around the barrel tang in a scallop shell pattern (100% intact) and overall is solid with 90% original varnish with very light scratches and dings from years of handling.  Original brass tipped wood ram rod.  15.25" overall length.  A real untouched gem worthy of any museum collection...
