Rare American Flintlock Musket

$ 6,750.00

A Rare Antique American Colonial Flintlock Musket of the French & Indian War - American Revolutionary War Period, circa, 1750-1770's.  42", .75 cal. smooth-bore barrel (no markings visible); bayonet lug mounted on the top near muzzle.  The musket is in it's original flintlock configuration.  Musket utilizes a French pattern/model 1728 military musket lock; 1st Model British Long Land Brown Bess brass entry ram rod pipe; simple brass middle ram rod pipe; blacksmith made steal lower ram rod pipe with tear-drop finial; European steal trigger guard of Dutch/French form; French military form steal side plate and butt plate. Hand forged steal ram rod with button head.  Very simple (rather crude) but classic stock with 'Roman-nose' butt; minor sliver lose on the upper right edge of fore-end; scratches, dings and heavy wear from years of service.  A fantastic example...

Note; The French military lock's pan is severely worn from hundreds of firings but is still functional.

This musket clearly shows evidence of being made in hast especially by the lack of finishing.  In the times of conflict during the French & Indian War and especially the American Revolutionary War, weapons were in high demand and in some cases, an absolute emergency.  This musket tells a great story of being made up of ANY available parts to be put into service and in the hands of one of the Colonial soldiers...
