A Good (PAIR) of Antique English Georgian Silver Mounted Queen Anne Flintlock Pistols by, "WM. STAPLES", Birmingham, circa. 1750-1770. 5.25" .577 cal. round iron multi-stage barrels w/cannon muzzles. Frame w/simple boarder line engraving and maker signed; 'WM. STAPLES' in front of the cock, (2) private proofs; a 'CROWN' over 'V' and barrel maker's mark; a "CROWN" over "WS" (William Staples) and a 'CROWN' over 'GP'(Gun maker's PROOF) is stamped in front of the trigger guard finial. Classic Georgian Silver furniture; grotesque butt cap, wrist escutcheon, and side plate. The Stocks are solid w/one minor chip; scratches and dings from years of handling. In good mechanical working order. 12.5" overall. Type coveted by Officers during the French and Indian War and the American Revolutionary War.

Note; One pistol is missing the top jaw and has a broken top jaw screw (can be restored).
