A Good English Small Sword (Rapier) circa, 1745-1770. 25.75" double edge blade w/a 6" central fuller just under the hilt extending down on both sides of blade. The most distinguishing features of this type of sword is the raised decorative scenes on the flats and panels. Original wood grip w/original twisted brass wire 'Turk's Heads' but missing the binding portion of the grip. The Quillon has broken off during the period of use. A very interesting sword type used in the American Revolutionary War. Missing scabbard.
