English or American Cutlass/Hanger, #1611 Edged Weapons
A very nice example of a English or American Cutlass/Hanger, circa. early 18th century. 21.75" curved blade (unmarked). Brass guard w/decorated knuckle bow divides into two tails which, in turn, support an oval outboard shell guard bearing raised cherub and floral designs. Antler grip. No scabbard. A very nice example and type used in the Americas.
