A very nice example of an early English Silver Mounted Cutlass/Short Saber, circa. early 18th century. 20.5" curved blade w/even light salt & pepper pitting. Fine Silver Mounted Hilt w/raised classical warrior's head at midpoint in the knuckle bow and on the flat disc quillion (which also has a small finial tip popular in the second half of the 17th century). The narrow counterguard and flattened oval pommel are also typical of this period w/multible Hall Marks; "I H"(maker mark), others are unidentified. Stag grip. Scabbard missing... A fantastic example. 26" overall length.
