A Very Rare French & Indian War - American Revolutionary War Period British Military Pattern 1759 Light Dragoon Flintlock Pistol by Contractor GRICE, Dated 1760
A Very Rare Antique French & Indian War - American Revolutionary War Period British Military Pattern 1759 Light Dragoon Flintlock Pistol, DATED "1760" second year of manufacture and made by William "GRICE" (Tower of London Military contractor). 9", .67 cal. round steel barrel with (2) Tower "CROSSED SCEPTER" proofs stamped on the top and a small "CROWN" inspector's mark on the tail of tang. The barrel has "FG" (most likely the barrel makers Farmer & Galton) and the number "15". The pistol remains in its original flintlock configuration. Brass regulation furniture. Stock is solid with a few minor chips missing from the lower edge, stress crack visible at the entrance of the ram rod channel at the muzzle, scratches and dings from years of service and is marked with a crisp and clear "arsenal stores keeper mark" just above the rear of the tail of the lock plate. Lock marked; "GRICE", the date "1760", a "CROWN" over "GR" (King George II/III) and the government ownership mark; a "CROWN" over "BROAD ARROW". Wood ram rod is broken in half (can be replaced). 15.75" overall length. In good working mechanical order. A wonderful untouched example vary hard to find in any condition.
