Antique Civil War Model 1840 Musician's NCO Sword
Antique Civil War Period Model 1840 Musician's NCO Sword, dated "1864". 28" single-edge blade marked on the ricasso "U.S." over "A. D. K." over the date "1864". The other side of the ricasso is marked "Made by AMES MFg. Co., CHICOPEE, MASS". The one-piece brass hilt, grip and guard has a dark yellow to reddish color age patina and is marked "G. W. C." on the knuckle guard. The blade is in excellent overall condition retaining much of the factory polish. The sword retains its original leather scabbard including the drag that has visible inspectors marks "A. H. K.".
Note; The scabbard has a section of restoration. The scabbard was in two pieces and a wrap-around piece of leather has been added to strengthen and keep both pieces together.
