A Good Untouched Antique American War of 1812 period pattern 1796 Dragoon Sword retaining the original leather scabbard, circa. 1796-1810. 32" single edge curved blade with 80% original fire blue; decorative engraved/gilded etched panels depicting foliage, an 'American Eagle w/spread wings' with a banner above 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' and below another panel depicting the 'LIBERTY CAP' over 'WARRANTED'. Pommel, backstrap, knuckle-guard, ferrule and quillon is gilded brass. Original leather covered grip bound by twisted brass wire (100% intact). Original leather scabbard with the throat fitting, carry rings, and center fitting made of gilded brass. Unfortunately the chape fitting is missing. A wonderful sword from the War of 1812...
Note; blade has some areas of rust pitting.
