A Cased (PAIR) of MASSIVE English Flintlock Officer's Pistols with accessories made by; THEOPOLIS RICHARDS, LONDON, circa. 1790-1810. Each pistol with 9" 10 BORE, .76 cal. (MAN STOPPER MUSKET BORE) octagon smooth-bore barrels with GOLD touch hole inserts; engraved 'THEOPs RICHARDS' on the top flat and struck on the underside with (2) private PROOFS a 'CROWN' over 'CROSSED SEPTERS'. Captive steel ram rods. Lock plates maker marked 'THEOPs RICHARDS' with high quality roller frizzen springs, rain proof pans and sliding safety. Both pistols are in their original flintlock configuration. Each pistol stock has a small vacant silver escutcheon inlaid at the rear of the engraved barrel tang. Steel furniture; trigger guards with engraved panoply's-of-arms and pineapple finials. Both stocks are solid with light scratches and dings from years of handling; grips with sharp checkering; horn fore-end caps. Both pistols are in good mechanical working order. Each pistol is approx 15" overall length. A very attractive set ! Type purchased as dueling pistols and preferred by Military Officer's especially when the caliber is the same as the Brown Bess Musket.
Note; Both Barrels have light salt & pepper pitting.
