18th Century Flintlock Powder Tester, #1902
An Antique Flintlock Powder Tester, circa. 18th century. 9 " overall length. Italian or Dutch. This Flintlock Powder tester has a powder tube running perpendicular to the action. Upon firing, the discharge of the powder drives a lever on a friction ratchet, the iron pointer (attached to the ratchet) points to calibration numbers 1 to 15 on the housing covering the ratchet. The more force of the discharge from the black powder being tested would give you a higher calibration number indicating a better / more powerful black powder... In good working order.
