$ 3,750.00

A Fantastic Antique US military model 1816 HARPER'S FERRY Flintlock musket dated 1833 on the barrel and 1838 on the lock (type III).   42", .69 caliber barrel struck with US Proof marks on the upper breech "U.S.", "L. S.", a "P" within an oval and the date "1833" on the tang.  All steel furniture.  The musket was made as "National Armory Bright" and has small areas of light pitting.  The lock has many inspectors marks and is maker marked "HARPER'S FERRY", "1838", the "FEDERAL EAGLE" over "U.S.".  The stock is stamped "64" at the rear of the barrel tang, has an inspectors car-touche just behind the rear side lock screw and just in front of the top of the "U.S." stamped butt plate, is solid with very light scratches, dings from service and handling.  A great example in good mechanical working order.

NOTE; Almost all of the (type III) Model 1816 flintlock muskets produced at the Harper's Ferry and the Springfield arsenals were converted to percussion for the Civil War.  This is a rare survivor in wonderful condition.
