$ 3,250.00

A Fine Antique Large Dutch or German Flintlock Holster Pistol of Military form, circa. 1720-1740.  12.75", .75 caliber smooth-bore steel barrel that has (unidentified) regimental markings engraved on the top and has a front sight made of brass.  The lock is unmarked on the outside.  The inside of the lock is stamped "M".  All steel parts exhibit areas of salt & pepper rust pitting.  The pistol remains in its original flintlock configuration.  All brass furniture.  The stock has raised decorative boarders around the lock, side plate and barrel tang.  Overall since the restoration in 1967, the stock is beautiful and solid with light scratches and dings from years of service.  Measures 20" overall length.  The wood ram rod is a replacement and fits perfectly.  A wonderful big pistol in good mechanical working order that may have seen action in the French & Indian War, American Revolutionary War, and the War or 1812 !

RESTORATION: There is a note on the stock under the barrel "Repaired in 1967, C.S. Smith, Lawrence, Kansas U.S.A."  Stock restoration includes a small section of wood on the upper edge of the right side of the fore-end and a larger section on the left side of the fore-end.  A possible section of wood may have been restored at the same time at the lower area of the trigger guard at the butt cap.  The work is very well done and very hard to detect.
