An Antique British Military 3rd Model a.k.a. India Pattern Brown Bess Flintlock Service Musket, circa. 1790-1810. 38.75", .75+ cal. round steel barrel with the remnants of (2) large British Royal Armory Tower proofs; surface porosity and pitting w/dark age patina and the touch hole has been re-bushed.  Lock marked; "TOWER", a "CROWN" over "GR" (King George III).  The lock is in its original flintlock configuration (see notes).  Brass regulation furniture has been recently polished with the trigger guard missing the front of the finial.  The stock was branded with a regimental designation on the left side of the comb and then later scratched out.  Overall the stock is solid with some areas of erosion with normal scratches and dings from years of service (see notes).  56.5" overall length.  Old replacement steel ram rod.  The musket is in good working mechanical order and may have seen service in the War of 1812 and the Napoleonic Wars.

Note:  It is our opinion that this musket has had the following restoration.  The brass butt plate is a replacement.  The barrel may have been blown out from excessive firing or converted to percussion during the period of use and then re-bushed to be converted back to flintlock.  The lock plate is in its original flintlock configuration and may be from another 3rd model Brown Bess musket as a replacement.  The frizzen spring is a replacement.  There is evidence of some wood fill around the butt plate finial.  There is some replaced wood at the rear of the lock plate mortise.  The brass nose cap is a replacement.
