An Antique French & Indian War - Revolutionary War period American Flintlock Fowler, circa. 1750-1770.  47.75", .68 caliber smooth-bore octagon-to-round barrel with thick dark rust age patina.  Nice early unmarked flat stepped lock, with period replaced British swan-neck cock/hammer.  Brass furniture includes a trigger guard with an acorn finial.  The long gun is in its original flintlock configuration.  Replacement wood ram rod.  The stock style is English and has remnants of decorative high-relief carving around the barrel tang, is solid with scratches and dings from years of service and handling.  63.5" overall length.  In good mechanical working order.  A very nice long fowler !

NOTE: The brass side plate is an old replacement.  Weapons of this period were in high demand and short supply.  This gun clearly exhibits American Colonial manufacture where the gun maker utilized any parts regardless of country of origin as long as they worked !
