An Antique English (PAIR) of Full Size Silver Mounted Box-Lock Flint Pistols by; 'GRIFFIN, BOND STREET, LONDON', circa. 1740-1760. 5" .577 cal. round (3) stage steel cannon barrels. 12" overall length. Engraved steel box-lock frame/breech w/maker's name; "GRIFFIN" and "BOND STREET, LONDON". All steel parts have light to moderate salt and pepper pitting. Both stocks are solid w/normal light scratches and dings from years of service; mounted with fine Silver grotesque butt caps and ornate classic Georgian wrist escutcheons engraved with the owner's crest. Both pistols are in good working order. Pistols are numbered 1 & 2. This type of pistol was prized by and used by Officer's during the French and Indian War and the American Revolutionary War.
