An Antique French & Indian War - Revolutionary War period American Flintlock Musket, circa. 1750-1770's.  45", .75 caliber smooth-bore round barrel has a thick dark rust age patina, with a bayonet lug on the top of muzzle.  Early European (Dutch or German) lock with period replaced swan-neck cock/hammer.  Brass furniture includes a French butt plate, British Brown Bess trigger guard and ram rod pipes.  The long gun is in its original flintlock configuration.  Steel ram rod.  The classic colonial style stock exhibiting a great "Roman Nose" form butt and comb, is solid with many deep scratches and dings from years of service.  60.75" overall length.  In good mechanical working order.  A great looking gun !

NOTE: Approx. 8" of the fore-end was replaced during the period of use.  There is an old stress crack at the wrist.  Minor period wood fill in areas.

Weapons of this period were in high demand and short supply.  This gun clearly exhibits American Colonial manufacture where the gun maker utilized any parts regardless of country of origin as long as they worked !
