An antique English/Irish silver mounted flintlock pistol, circa. 1775-1780.  This pistol was  made for a gentleman or Officer with a patent breech steel 9”, .60 caliber smooth-bore octagon barrel held to the stock with two wedges, engraved on the top flat “HUTCHINSON, DUBLIN”, stamped with two oval “view” and “proof” marks on the left side of the breech and “DU-1432” (Irish Police registry marks for DUBLIN put on the barrel in 1843).  The stepped flat lock plate has decorative engraving and is maker marked “HUTCHINSON” with the cock engraved in suit.  The frizzen spring is of high quality with roller.  The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration.  The silver furniture is of high quality which includes a butt cap that has had restoration.  The wood ramrod is a replacement but correct in form.  The stock is solid with light scratches and dings from years of handling.  A beautiful looking pistol in good mechanical working order.
