A Fine Large Antique Dutch Flintlock Holster Pistol made by, E, COUNA of Holland and Liege, circa. 1700-1720. 13.5", .64 cal. steel octagon-to-round barrel with applied brass on tang, wedding band at transition, and a blade-type front sight. Brass lock plate with decorative engraving and maker marked, 'E, COUNA'. Pistol is in its original flintlock configuration. Fine brass furniture includes; an open worked and chiseled high relief side plate, trigger guard with a fancy designed finial, and a great monster/grotesque face butt cap. The original stock has a minor period repair on the upper left side of the fore-end at muzzle, otherwise is solid with light scratches and dings from years of service. Appears to retain the original wood ram rod with brass end cap. A wonderful big pistol in good working mechanical order. 20.5" overall length.
Note; half of the cock screw was broken off long ago (see photos).
