A Good American Military Sword with Scabbard
A Good Antique American Military Sword with Scabbard, early 19th century. 32" curved edge, single fuller blade with decorative etched & gilt panels surrounded by original mercury fire blue (approx. 50-60% blue remaining). Blade is marked "Warranted" and depicts a Federal Eagle with a banner "E. PLURIBUS UNUM". Original leather covered grip retained by twisted wire. The guard retains generous amounts of original gilding over brass. Original leather scabbard has scratches and loses and has gilt brass furniture (missing the drag). Measures: 36.5" overall. A great example that may have been used during the War of 1812.
Note; Very similar in design to the British Pattern 1796 Cavalry sword.
