$ 0.00

A Good Antique English Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss by H NOCK, LONDON, circa. 1815-1820.  17.75" octagon-to-round-to-cannon muzzle brass barrel struck with (2) BIRMINGHAM PROOFS and (1) maker mark on the left flat of breech and stamped 'London' on the top (see photos); mounted with a spring bayonet on the underside of barrel.  The stepped lock has partial engraving and maker signed 'H. NOCK' with high quality roller frizzen spring. All brass furniture includes a trigger guard with a bayonet release lever through finial.  Replacement wood ram rod.  The stock is solid with an age crack in front of the trigger guard finial, a crack just behind the barrel tang, and a crack on the left side of fore-stock in front of the barrel wedge.  The stock overall is sound with scratches and dings from years of service.  The blunderbuss is in it's original flintlock configuration and is in good mechanical working order.  33.75" overall length.

These weapons were perfect for Coach defense and were the weapon of choice on the ships of the day because of their size (close quarter fighting) and being able to fire just about anything one could load it with !!!  (Glass, rocks, nails and lead shot were the most effective).

NOTE: This blunderbuss has had the following restoration: The underside spring bayonet is a replacement.  The lever release works but the bayonet will not lock into the forward position.  The wood ram rod has been replaced.
