A Fantastic Antique Wrought Iron Treasure Chest/Casket ARMADA BOX/CHEST, circa. 16th-17th century.  Beautiful original period decorative paint.  Most likely made in Nuremberg, Germany.

Measures; 34" wide X 18.5" deep X 19.5" high.

Formed in a rectangular box, with carry handles attached to both sides.  The lid is attached with (4) iron hinges and containing the complex lock mechanism, accessed with a single key, the hole is concealed beneath a movable cover.  The interior lock mechanism throws (7) bolts at the turn of the key.  The massive lock mechanism is covered by a steel escutcheon plate that is decoratively engraved and pierced.  The interior "jewel box'' has the original key.  Replacement two-hand top key.  The steel has areas of de-lamination.  The front of the box has (2) lock hasps and a false lock escutcheon.  A great specimen in good working order.
