A Fine Antique English Flintlock Dueling/Officer's Pistol made by famous gun maker John MANTON, LONDON, circa. 1790. 9", .67 cal. round barrel w/flat top engraved 'MANTON - LONDON' w/original brown striping finish and engraved patent breech. The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration. Decorative engraved lock maker signed 'MANTON' w/French style cock (hammer); roller frizzen, and rain proof pan. Engraved steel furniture includes a fine pineapple finial trigger guard. The steel furniture has areas of light age pitting. Solid stock w/period repair to the upper edge of the right side of fore-end; checkered grip; light scratches and dings from years of handling. Original horn tipped ram rod. In good working mechanical order. 15" overall length.
Note; this pistol was made as a pair and cased with accessories and unfortunately was separated and lost to time.
